It is easy to forget that God calls us to be salt and light in this world. Christ followers can become jaded to the sin and depravity of the culture and miss how far status quo is from the lifestyle God calls us to. Many have done this and find themselves a long way from God's standard and quite similar to the world's. They have lost the distinctiveness of a holy lifestyle that points the way to God.
There is also another extreme we can go to, and that is feeling hopeless and helpless to make a difference. We wonder why our efforts to be salt and light don't have the impact we expected. We wonder why our efforts to obey God's standards bring such difficulty and discrimination. It is easy to underestimate the significance and seriousness of the spiritual battle that is and has been happening behind the scenes.
In this weeks message I remind us all of the intense spiritual battle going on for the hearts and minds of our world. I also present the great hope that we have; hope that is found in sovereign rule of God and the great victory that is in store for us. Sometimes we need to be reminded of THE PLAN and be assured that hope is not lost.
